How much upload speed does streaming need?
The connection needs more upload capacity than the selected video bitrate because audio, chat, scene data & normal network variation still use bandwidth. This calculator spends at most 75% of the entered speed on the video estimate, then applies a conservative platform ceiling.
Should bitrate be based on the fastest speed test?
No. Test several times, preferably with a wired connection, & enter the lowest representative result. A short peak is not a stable broadcast budget. If evening performance is worse than daytime performance, design for the evening result when that is when streams happen.
When should a stream use 720p instead of 1080p?
Choose 720p when upload capacity, encoder performance or audience connectivity makes 1080p unstable. Smooth motion & consistent delivery matter more than a larger frame that drops packets. Football gameplay benefits from frame rate, so 720p60 can be preferable to an unstable 1080p60 stream.

Does this test my internet connection?
No. It does not run a speed test or send network traffic. Enter a measured upload result from a trusted test performed under the same conditions as the planned stream.
Does the estimate include audio bitrate?
The video result is separate. Reserved connection headroom leaves room for audio & normal overhead, but you must still configure audio in the encoder.
Why can a recommended setting still drop frames?
Upload speed is only one factor. Wi-Fi interference, routing, encoder overload, other devices & platform ingest health can all affect stability. Validate with the broadcasting app’s statistics.
What is VISUAPE?

Do I need OBS or Streamlabs?
Not for profile pictures, banners, thumbnails, covers or panels. Stream overlays are image sources, so you need broadcasting software such as OBS Studio or Streamlabs to place them above your game capture. The downloaded PNG works in either app without a plug-in.
Can I use VISUAPE graphics on a monetised channel?
Yes. You can use free outputs & properly licensed pack files on a channel that earns subscriptions, ads, donations or sponsorship revenue. You still own the photos, names & other material you add, so only upload content you have the right to use.
